Antique Collins & Fairbanks smock
Very rare early 1900s ( could be as early as 1890s) pure silk striped artists smock, with original tags, which is extremely rare to survive this long. Tags read "Collins and Fairbanks Boston". Collins and Fairbanks opened in Boston in 1883, primarily selling silk tophats, which go for thousands in auctions today. Buttons up front - may not be original buttons. Aesthetic pockets, not functional. See links below for examples of their pieces in museums and auctions, the hat and box below selling for $11,000:
One size fits most.
Excellent considering it is over 100 years old. No rips, tears, stains or odours. Some very slight areas fo wear to silk where it is thinning. This is truly a rare find, belongs in a museum.
